Check-ups

At a periodical check-up your dentist examines your teeth and gums extensively. He or she can determine by the color of your teeth if a cavity will show up soon, or that a formerly repaired cavity has grown bigger underneath the filling. If that is the case, it may be necessary to have an X-ray taken first. When you have crowns or bridges we thoroughly check if all sides still fit perfectly. When during the check-up is determined that something has to be repaired, we will make another appointment for the treatment itself. For more elaborate treatments several appointments will be needed. Furthermore a screening will be conducted during the check-up to establish the health of your gums. When the dentist refers you to the oral hygienist, she will also do the dental check-ups. Only when your gums are perfectly healthy again, the dentist will take over the check-ups again. The oral hygienist will immediately notify the dentist when your teeth require other treatments.
